Hi everyone, Anne here again!
Following on from sharing my exciting first foray into the EPSON International Pano Awards in 2017, I wanted to jump forward a year and talk about my results in 2018. After the initial thrill of receiving awards in my very first competition entry, I was hooked! With another year of landscape photography under my belt – filled with learning, practice, and countless hours spent exploring beautiful locations – I eagerly entered the Pano Awards once again.
As many of you know from my previous posts, this prestigious competition attracts phenomenal panoramic photographers from all around the world. Entering the 'Open' category is always a significant undertaking, as it means putting your work directly alongside images submitted by highly skilled and seasoned professionals. It’s both daunting and exhilarating!
When the results for the 2018 competition were announced, I was absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to discover that seven of my images had received Bronze Awards in the Open category!
To achieve this level of recognition across multiple images, competing against professionals for the second year running, was a huge personal achievement and felt like a significant step forward in my photography journey. While the single Open Bronze in 2017 was that incredible first breakthrough, receiving seven Bronzes in
the Open category in 2018 felt like a testament to growing consistency and perhaps a developing style.
I named this one "Awakening Waves" I remember so clearly standing knee deep in the waves at Bournda National Park in NSW and letting the waves wash any stress away.
There is a great back story to this image which I'll write in another blog. This one I named "Serene" and it was taken down on Western Port Bay in Victoria.
"A Time Gone By" Princess Pier in Port Melbourne.
"Land That Time Forgot" taken at Camel Rock in Bermagui.
"Wild Waters" taken at Cadillac Canyon, Western Port bay.
"Into Infinity" taken at the old pylons at Clifton Springs.
Watch out for the suck you down mud there!
"Dragon Awakens" Taken at Sorrento's Number 16 Beach in Victoria.
Having this body of work recognized in the highly competitive Open section felt amazing. It really showed me that the dedication to learning the craft, practising techniques, and getting out there exploring our stunning landscapes (often in the wee hours or braving the elements!) was truly paying off on an international level.
I'm so grateful for the recognition from the EPSON Pano Awards judges during that period. It fuelled my desire to keep capturing the world's beauty and share it with you all.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to sharing more award stories soon!
Warmly,
Anne
